With the heavenly blessings of Reverend Sant Baba Malkit Singh Ji and Sant Baba Dlawar Singh Ji (Brahm Ji), and with the benign endorsement of Honorable Chancellor, Sant Baba Manmohan Singh Ji, this event was organized under the guidance of worthy Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Dharmjit Singh Parmar, Dean Academics Prof. (Dr.) Vijay Dhir, and Dean of UIET Prof. (Dr.) Jagdeep Kaur. The Department of Computer Science and Engineering organized an extension activity at Govt. School, Village Manko, on the topic Cyber Threats and Internet Awareness. The objective of the program was to educate school students about safe internet usage, potential online threats, and measures to protect themselves in the digital world. The session began with a warm welcome to Er. Manpreet Singh, Assistant Professor, CSE Department, who delivered an insightful lecture introducing the concept of cyber threats. He explained various types of cybercrimes, including phishing, identity theft, malware attacks, and social engineering, while emphasizing the importance of strong passwords, privacy settings, and responsible online behavior. Following this, Aman Kumar, a B.Tech 5th semester student, delivered a detailed lecture highlighting practical examples of internet fraud and the precautions every internet user should take. He shared real-life incidents to help students relate to the seriousness of cyber safety. Next, Sumit Kumar, a B.Tech 7th semester student, conducted a practical demonstration to raise awareness among the students. He showcased how cyber-attacks can occur and how preventive measures like two-factor authentication, antivirus software, and secure browsing can help avoid such threats. In conducting the practical session, Mr. Gurpreet Singh, Lab Technician , provided valuable assistance, ensuring the demonstration ran smoothly and effectively. The event concluded with Shri Ripal Basra, Principal of Govt. School, sharing his thoughts on the importance of digital literacy and online safety in the modern era. He appreciated the efforts of the CSE Department in organizing such an informative program and expressed gratitude to all participants. He also delivered the Vote of Thanks, acknowledging the speakers, demonstrators, and organizers for their valuable contribution. Overall, the activity was highly interactive and beneficial, leaving the school students better informed and equipped to face the challenges of the digital age responsibly and securely.
